Brain Food

HELLO! I haven’t written in awhile because I’ve been busy with work. I’ve worked about 12+ days in a row without a day off! So I’ve barely had time to myself. I usually wouldn’t put myself through that much, but I’m so close to being out of debt! I’m really motivated to finish paying off my credit card by the beginning of September! I’m pushing myself to have this done with so I can really start focusing on the things I love and enjoy doing. Plus, working that much gives me the motivation to work harder towards my dreams – knowing that I wouldn’t tolerate any job I didn’t love.

Now that you’re all caught up – I want to share with you what has been inspiring me lately! The books I’ve been reading, videos I’ve been watching, podcasts I’ve been listening to, music I’ve been listening to, etc.

I have this thing with books – I never necessarily finish them when I begin reading them. (Most of them are self-help books so I can pick up wherever I left off.)

The book that I’ve picked back up recently is a book that I bought in 2015, titled, “Initiation” by Elisabeth Haich. It’s an autobiography about a woman who was a cofounder of the first Yoga school in Europe circa 1941.  In the book she also recalls her past life in ancient Egypt where she was initiated as a High Priestess. The book then goes into detail about the spiritual teachings of the ancient Egyptians. It covers brief lessons on the zodiac, and geometry. I felt deeply connected to this book and to the author (She died on my first birthday! *weird*) I’d highly recommend this book if you’re into spirituality/wisdom and ancient Egypt!

A few of my favorite quotes from the book are:

“The chosen people who are called to proclaim and carry out the ideas of the new epoch wander onward, guarding the wisdom and the secret teaching of their great master.”

“If you want to achieve true knowledge, I tell him, you must first learn to know yourself. You have to know what you yourself are. When you come to know yourself, you will discover that all the truths of the universe are concealed within your own being.”

“For years I’ve made a habit of self observation in order to seek out the motives of all my thoughts and deeds.”

“I jumped about happily and felt much closer to God in the sunshine than I had in the cold church!”

“I ask father: You said that the Sons of God will gradually disappear from the face of the earth and that the people, even though not yet awakened on the spiritual plane and consequently self-centered entirely in the physical plane, will get control and dominion over the affairs of the world. In that case how will the people be able to control the lions? These marvelous animals are so extremely sensitive that they don’t tolerate the selfish sons of men in their vicinity, even now. On their animal level they are the manifestation of the highest power – the sun power – and live and move in harmony with the sun’s vibrations. They respond to courage, honesty, love and have such fine nerves that they simply can’t tolerate low-level radiations. Whenever anyone approaches them, they know immediately whether he’s coming towards them in a spirit of love, or in a low attitude of fear and passion for power. That’s why they hate the selfish, power-hungry sons of men. If what you say is going to happen how will lions ever be able to serve the sons of men? I just can’t imagine, Father.”

Another book that I’ve picked back up recently is a book that I bought in 2015, (told you I’m bad at finishing books) titled, “Science of Mind – A Philosophy, A Faith, A Way of Life” by Ernest Holmes. Ernest Holmes was a philosopher and founded the spiritual movement known as ‘Religious Science’ circa 1926. This metaphysical book touches on the different laws within the universe and reminds you to be conscious of your thoughts/beliefs because they truly shape your reality.

A few of my favorite quotes from this book are:

“The man who dares to fling his thought out into the Universal Intelligence, with the assurance of one who realizes his divine nature and it’s relation to the Universe- and dares to claim all there is-will find an ever-creative good at hand to aid him. God will honor his request. To the soul that knows its own divinity, all else must gravitate.”

“We should take the highest thought we have, and attempt to enlarge on this consciousness until it embraces a more vital concept of reality.”

“See the desire as an already accomplished fact and rest in perfect confidence, peace and certainty, never looking for results, never wondering, never becoming anxious, never being hurried nor worried.”

“In mental work, we must realize that there is One Infinite Mind, which is consciously directing our destiny. Declare every day that: “No mistakes have been made, none are being made, and non can be made.”

“Destroy the thought that would place limitation or bondage upon any situation or condition. ‘Loose him and let him go.’ Talk to yourself, not to the world. There is no one to talk to but yourself for all experience takes place within.”

Both books contain an abundant amount of wisdom and have expanded my way of thinking.
