About Me

Hi everyone! I’m Demiries. That’s pronounced – dem-er-eese. I’m originally from the south suburbs of Chicago, but currently reside in Los Angeles. I self-published my first book, “Where Lions go to Bloom” October of 2017.

My journey as a writer began when I was 16. It all began after my first, ‘heartbreak’ (WHAT A JOKE!) To give younger me validation – it really felt like the end of the world. I was dating this boy who I thought I was going to marry. So when he broke up with me out of nowhere– I was crushed. *Turns out his xGF was coming home for winter break.I remember meeting up with him and him giving me back all of the notes and things I had given him. He dropped me off at home and I ran into my house crying. I could tell that my Dad was hurt to see me that broken. He didn’t want me to date in the first place, for that reason. I remember having my Mom CALL MY X to ask him what was going on just to see what he said. So embarrassing!!!

ANYWAYS– I was in a dark place and began to write away my feelings. I had always been a big fan of music, and began to ‘rap’ around that time. From then on – writing and making music have been my main outlets of expression. I wrote a dis track about him over the, ‘Ms. Jackson’ instrumental by Outkast. (LOL!!! I wish I could remember it.) With writing, came along really bad raps. I would freestyle with all my guy friends at parties and they’d laugh at me and tell me how bad I was. I left multiple parties crying, because people would tell me that I wasn’t going to go anywhere with music. (Looking back – I was really bad, but they didn’t have to be that mean lol.) I’m just grateful that I never believed anything they said and I stuck to following my dreams. So here we are, 8 years later. I released my first poetry book, “Where Lions go to Bloom” on October 27, 2017. I work on music and I can’t wait to share it with the world someday soon.
